Welcome to Quintessential Clay! Working from our 150-year-old stone farmhouse just outside of Guelph, Ontario, I am pleased to bring you a line of ware that blends function and elegance.Working in mainly porcelain, I create pieces that blend an elegance of form and texture with a hard-working functionality. My work ranges from an "old-world" aesthetic, shown in the "Antiquity" line, to a modern, free-form aesthetic, shown in the "Zen" line. I am in interested in producing vessels that range from large, one-of-a-kind sculptural vases and bowls to smaller, functional production pieces, with a specialization in dinnerware. My interest in organic forms and textures is evident in every piece of work, whether a large vessel or a small bowl.
Each year, I attend the One-of-a-Kind Craft Show and Sale in Toronto, Ontario where I have been a featured artist, a design-forum participant, and was recently awarded "Best Booth" from more than 800 artists.
In the spring of 2009, I attended a pottery workshop in Tuscany, Italy, at La Meridiana, International School of Ceramics in Certaldo. It is with great pleasure that I will return to La Meridiana in October, 2011 to lead a workshop on "Mastering Dinnerware". As evidenced in the new lines of pottery, influences from the workshop and the Italian landscape are reflected in my new work.Also, I am pleased to offer a greater variety of dinnerware designs. This area is an exciting expansion of my work and I look forward to creating many unique dinnerware sets for clients.
